The year 2002 was rich with important events which determined successful development of the communications sector for many years to come.

The Russian Federation State Duma did the first reading of the Draft Federal Law On Entering Changes and Additions in the Federal law On Communications, the RF Government approved the Federal «e-Russia» Target Programme. The growth indicators of the services provided to population remain sustainable about 40 %, the number of Internet users and mobile communications subscribers doubled again. New technologies like land digital TV broadcasting, IP-telephony, new mobile communications services, Internet-based multimedia services entered everyday life of Russian people.

While actively developing these and other services within the Western Siberia territory, CTS Holding Company showed the following financial performance indicators: in 2002 the companies of the Holding sold products, works and services for the amount of USD 13, 010, 000 which is 937, 000 dollars more than the amount of the last year corresponding period (see the chart). The gross receipts growth rate to the last year fact made 107,76%. The income increment and constant expenses control allowed the Company to fulfill the plan of sales income growth rate, the sales making 126,08% in 2002.

It is known that the year 2003 will become crucial for the Communications and IT sector being the most dynamically developing sector in Russian economy. Promoting highly efficient and prospective telecommunications projects in Siberian region, CTS Holding Company follows the right strategic course of Russia.

During the year 2002, the Holding Company continued to invest in its own technical base development to the total investment amount USD23,650,000 as at the year end.Â

The current year 2003 must become a new stage in the Holding Company's prospective activity directions development. It is expected that the investment amounting to 1,000,000 USD will be raised for CTS Company for further development of its regional data transfer network and telematic services. However, the main breakthrough related to the cellular communications transfer to the new generation (3G) digital standard will require up to 15,000,000 USD investment resources.
